Personality.... Shiba's are known for the spirited personality, small upright ears and cat-like agility! This medium, athletic breed is energetic and self assured. The Shiba is a good family dog - he is loyal and devoted - and does well with children if he has been properly socialized. The well bred Shiba is good- natured, bold, and alert. He is strong willed, confident, and often has his own idea about things.
Size... Your Shiba will weigh around 20 pounds and stand 15 to 18 inches at the shoulder.
Care... Shiba Inu's are best off with a yard to run in or frequent walks with you. He has plenty of energy and needs a profitable way to use it. Give him room to roam, play with him, or take him on a jog. Socialization is important with this breed, too much time alone can make them timid or quarrelsome. Shiba's do shed but their short thick coat is very simple to care for.
Feeding... Your Shiba will need between 1/2 and 1.5 cups of food divided into two meals daily. The amount he needs depends on his size and activity.
